Six Linux Mini Systems

XYZ Computing has a cool article on six mini systems that you don’t have to build yourself. They are an ideal platform for a project or for a silent system for simple tasks like checking your email. The intention was to find systems that are small, Linux-ready, and customizable, but price was factored in as well.

Samsung's latest Bordeaux LCDs

Samsung is adding new models to its Bordeaux line of LCDs in 23, 32, and 40-inch models. The 2 larger LCDs are 720p (1366x768) and feature a 8ms response time, 8,000:1 contrast ratio and 550 cd/m2 brightness. The smaller 23-inch LCD is also 720p, but only has a 4,000:1 contrast ratio and 450cd/m2 brightness rating. Look at cost you can get the 40-inch for $1,398, the 32-inch for $830, and the 23-inch for $581.

Xbox HD-DVD Player Price Drop

Today at Comic-Con Microsoft will announce its $20 price drop for the HD-DVD drive ($199 down to $179). Also to get your HD-DVD collection started they are offering 5 free HD-DVD’s to anyone picking one up. This is a mail-order deal though. A $20 price drop is not a lot, but the 5 free HD-DVD’s might sell the drive, although you only get to choose from a total of 15 titles. Also announced were HD versions of 300 (available August 14) and the pilot episode of Heroes.

Cool Fish Aquariums

TechEBlog has a really cool feature of cool fish aquariums. There are a lot of different aquariums including ones made of an old Macintosh computer, G4 cube, and even one that you can feed the fish directly.
