Looking for a new sound system for gaming? As we all know there are only a few players in the PC gaming market that make quality speakers. Today we will be taking a look at the Z-5500 5.1 speaker system from Logitech.

The Z-5500 Digital is a THX certified speaker system and is targeted at consumers who want the best of the best in sound for their home theater system or PC. With the Z-5500, Logitech creates their most powerful and complete speaker system ever. For DVD nuts, music enthusiasts or hardcore gamers, the Logitech Z-5500 Digital delivers a highly refined and breathtaking 5.1 surround sound experience in the living room, office or home theater. And with 500 watts of power and a 10 inch subwoofer, the Z-5500 Digital is powerful enough to shake the rafters - of the house across the street!

This is a very versatile speaker system, with support for a broad range for formats, including Dolby Digital, DTS and DTS 96/24. Logitech also includes support for up to six inputs and features a new satellite design, a new digital control center and a wireless remote control.

The Logitech Z-5500 Digital is among the first computer speakers to support the 96/24 audio format. The number stands for 96KHz signal sampling rate and 24 bit depth. These two factors largely determine the quality of digital sound. The higher the number the better the sound. A CD uses 44.1KHz and 16 bit and a DVD is 48/20. 96/24 is the format most studios use for their master recordings. With the Z-5500, the quality of that format is maintained all the way thought the listening experience. 96/24 is currently used on a limited number of enhanced DVD and audio discs as well as some high-end PC soundcards.

Anyone would love these speakers in their home. However, at $399.95 direct from Logitech these speakers are far from cheap. Luckily many of Logitech's dealers don't sell at the MSRP. A quick search of our Price Index shows you can get the Z-5500 for much lower than the MSRP.

Logitech Z-5500 Inside the box you'll find 4 satellites speakers, 1 center channel speaker, 1 subwoofer in a very large ported enclosure, 1 remote control, 1 Digital SoundTouch Control Center breakout box, power and input cables and the owner's manual. The system is covered by a two-year limited warranty.
